The Ridge Explorer II is a custom New Zealand taper designed specifically to handle bulky flies, strong wind and long leaders.
The Explorer is the quintessential back country fly line for New Zealand. The line has a powerful front taper that bowls over heavy nymphs and indicators with ease. The camo olive colour is perfect for targeting spooky fish in clear water. Another area we've found these useful in has been for casting wind resistant cicada flies. In short if you need power and line control at any distance then the Explorer is the line for you, but if you're fishing skinny water and presentation is more important then get yourself the Tactical Trout taper.
